Concrete Collaborative Efforts for Environmental Conservation and Community Welfare by PLN Nusantara Renewables, PMSE, and Kodim 0619 Purwakarta
Purwakarta, October 4, 2024 – In celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the 29th Anniversary of PLN Nusantara Power, PLN Nusantara Renewables, together with the Purwakarta District Military Command (Kodim) 0619 and PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali Masdar Solar Energi (PMSE), organized a series of environmental and social initiatives in Maniis District, Purwakarta Regency. Activities on Friday (04/10) included tree planting, free medical services, mass circumcision, and the distribution of basic necessities to local residents.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, PLN Nusantara Renewables planted 320 tree seedlings in the Cirata area. The planted species included coconut, mango, avocado, durian, rambutan, and longan trees. This tree-planting initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions, preserve the local ecosystem, and enhance the greenery around the Cirata Floating PV Power Plant.
This event builds upon the ongoing strategic partnership between TNI, PLN Nusantara Renewables, and PMSE, which began in 2021. Through this collaboration, the organizations strive to deliver lasting benefits for the environment and improve the quality of life for the community around Maniis District.
Harjono, President Director of PLN Nusantara Renewables, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating, “The Cirata Floating PV Power Plant is a National Vital Object that benefits from structured and well-coordinated security provided by TNI. The award was presented during the 79th Mining and Energy Anniversary celebration in Jakarta to three key figures behind the National Strategic Project: Harjono, President Director of PLN Nusantara Renewables (previously Vice President of Project Management at PLN Nusantara Power, 2021–2023), and Dimas Kaharudin, President Director of PT PJB Masdar Solar Energi. Enhancing Clean Energy Capacity: PLN Nusantara Renewables and GD Power Hong Kong Sign Letter of Intent for Karangkates 100 MW Floating Solar Power Plant Jakarta, August 13, 2024 – In a strategic move to accelerate Indonesia’s energy transition and boost its clean energy capacity, PT PLN (Persero), PLN Nusantara Renewables (PLN NR), and GD Power Hong Kong have officially signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the development of the 100 MW Karangkates Floating Solar Power Plant. The signing ceremony, held at the PLN Headquarters Auditorium in Jakarta, marks a pivotal moment in both companies' efforts to deliver sustainable and innovative energy solutions. Building on its successes with the 145 MWac Cirata Floating PV Power Plant and the 35 MWac Tembesi Floating Solar Power Plant, PLN NR continues to strengthen its renewable energy initiatives. This collaboration with GD Power Hong Kong underscores Indonesia’s commitment to leveraging its abundant renewable energy resources, addressing global climate challenges, and accelerating its transition toward a greener energy future. “Energy transition is the bridge connecting our past, present, and future,” said Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PLN, in his opening remarks. “This journey cannot be rushed. 5,000 Mangrove Seedlings from PLN Nusantara Renewables Ready to Enhance and Protect Coastal Areas Around Jawa 7 Power Plant Banten, July 26, 2024 – Every year, July 26 is celebrated as the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. Marking this occasion, PLN Nusantara Renewables, with its subsidiary, PT Shenhua Guohua Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (SGPJB), continued their mangrove conservation program around the Jawa 7 Power Plant. The event featured not only the symbolic planting of mangroves but also a drawing competition for children and a site tour around the power plant and jetty, coinciding with Indonesia’s National Children’s Day. The Jawa 7 Power Plant, a 2 x 1,050 MW coal-fired power plant, stands as one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly power plants in Indonesia. Committed to providing reliable, affordable, and clean energy, the plant also focuses on fostering a healthier environment for nearby communities. Over their estimated eight-year lifespan, these mangroves are projected to absorb 146.5 tons of CO2—equivalent to reducing emissions from a car journey of over 2.3 million kilometers. This initiative follows a similar effort in 2022, when the company planted 7,000 mangrove seedlings that now flourish around the Jawa 7 Power Plant. Zhou Zhigang, President Director of PT SGPJB, commended PLN Nusantara Renewables’ efforts, saying, “We are deeply committed to environmental protection in Indonesia, actively conserving mangrove forests, and establishing wildlife protection centers within mangrove ecosystems. PLN Nusantara Renewables, TotalEnergies, and Adaro Power Take a Major Step Toward Constructing the Largest Wind Power Plant in Kalimantan Jakarta, July 5, 2024 – In a demonstration of their shared commitment to delivering clean and sustainable energy to the Indonesian people, TotalEnergies, Adaro Power, and PLN Nusantara Renewables (PLN NR) have formalized their collaboration by signing a Shareholder Agreement (SHA) for the Tanah Laut Wind Power Plant (PLTB) project. The agreement was signed on Friday, July 5, at the Muara Karang Meeting Room, PT PLN (Persero) Headquarters. Located in Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan, the Tanah Laut PLTB marks a significant milestone as the first wind power plant under the PLN Group and the first of its kind on the island of Kalimantan. The plant will have a total capacity of 70 megawatts (MW), generated by 11 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.6 MW. To enhance reliability, the project will also include a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 10 MW/10 MWh, designed to address fluctuations in power generation during operation. This innovative combination makes the Tanah Laut PLTB the first hybrid wind power plant in Indonesia to feature an integrated battery storage system. The project will be implemented and operated by a joint venture company (JVC), PT Tala Alam Baru. The company is established by a consortium comprising TotalEnergies and Adaro Power through PT Bayu Energi Listrik Lestari (PT BELL), which holds a 70% ownership shares. PLN Nusantara Renewables, as the mandatory partner appointed by PLN, holds the remaining 30% ownership shares. To support the project’s financial needs, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has committed to providing funding, underscoring the initiative's strong environmental credentials. The signing of the SHA marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between PLN NR, TotalEnergies, and Adaro Power in advancing renewable energy development in Indonesia. It also aligns with the Indonesian government’s ambitious target to achieve a 23% renewable energy mix by 2025.
